CEO day 26: A Visit to the The Cubby Hole

Paul Boente and Jason Kessinger gave a tour of The Cubby Hole. Paul shared how Dale and Nancy started the business after Dale filled concession machines at surround schools and people asked, “what about shirts?” So if you get asked enough times you eventually decide it’s a worthwhile business! That was 1985.

Today The Cubby Hole is a regional name for personalized branded apparel. Today’s lessons included:

Systems and processes: staffing and training to raw materials (shirts) to prints to imprinting to purchase orders and invoicing to quality control and shipping.

Biggest lessons included reliable service, great customer service above all else a quality product at a competitive price. Jason elaborated, “we can’t always beat on price, but we will never give up on quality and customer service.”

Paul also explained the value in valuing their employees. “When we succeed they succeed. We are all in this [business] together.”
