Holly Crowe with Crowe Boot & Shoe gave CEO a tour of her shop where she shared perfectly timed business concepts!

“We bought this building and asked, ‘what is it Carlinville needs?’” Everyone needs footwear, she explained, but online shopping is without the ability to try on shoes and with a minimum of 2 day shipping. Or people drive a distance to shop in larger cities. “We are local and we are a full service retailer. We size your feet and ensure a perfect fit.”

Holly also explained her startup challenges, “distributors were not sure about a new store without a Proof of Concept. Starting out required a lot of cold calling.” She also mused about the time she purchased a large order of boots only to run into a mild winter. “Hard to sell snow boots without any snow!” 😬
